What happened in the race?

The 2019 Singapore Grand Prix was an incident-packed race, with multiple crashes and safety car interventions. Sergio Perez took the win for Racing Point, ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

It was a chaotic race, with several other incidents taking place. Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel collided on the first lap, resulting in Verstappen retiring from the race. Charles Leclerc also retired after colliding with Daniil Kvyat.

Who won the Singapore Grand Prix?

Sergio Perez took victory in an incident-packed Singapore Grand Prix, as Max Verstappen and Sebastian Vettel collided while battling for the lead on Lap 1. The Red Bull drivers had started on the front row, with Verstappen leading away, but Vettel attempted to go around the outside of Turn 1 and the two made contact, spinning off into the gravel.

Perez thus inherited the lead and controlled proceedings from there, despite coming under pressure from Lewis Hamilton in the closing stages. Hamilton ultimately had to settle for second, with Nico Hulkenberg impressing to take third place for Renault.
